It's an impression not unfamiliar to him, that certain awkwardness. He'd been flipping burgers before he came to Baedal, and it was always a bit surreal, like dressing a lion up in lambswool. The similarity strikes him as a little endearing, and his expression softens despite himself. (These are not things other people find endearing, probably.)
