She holds out her hand automatically, trance-like, to receive the ring. For a second, it feels like the gods of Baedal are waving her home in her face. Kate hasn't actually been back in her world for years and here goes something that reminds her, almost cruelly, of what she used to have. It never occurred to her that she might not get to go home for good until now and it's a thought she doesn't want to entertain. Ever.
