Sensitivity is sometimes a luxury that must be done away with; now is one of those times, in Benevenuta's opinion, but she couldn't know until she spoke with her if it's an opinion Laura is willing to share. That it is saves time that she doubts now either of them were interested in wasting (arguing the point, deciding to do it alone and then being drawn into an argument that she would've ignored but which would have still slowed her down and given more time for the deathclaws below to decide to venture back out into collateral damage territory), so there's that.

The sanctity of the recently deceased has less to do with their feelings and more to do with those left behind. Their concern right now is whether or not there will be anyone else left behind in whatever territory these pack animals imagine themselves to have claimed.

Benevenuta pauses for a moment, and then there's a gesture - just a tilt of her head - that's almost like an answering shrug, and there's a hint of something rueful about it. Like, well, she's still making this up as she goes along, so here's her best guess...

Flagging down a thestral is easier than it sounds when she still smells like the blood of their brothers (two; in retrospect she might not have liked to handle it the way she did, but it was done already) and she's anticipating the aggression she gets in response; it doesn't attack, as it nears, but she only has so much of a window of opportunity to reason before 'bitch did what to my who' asserts itself in this intelligent animal's mind.

Unsure of precisely how much they grasp, she lays her plan out in its simplest form.
