Wolfgang watches this with great apprehension because he really doesn't want her to get hurt, and he feels (irrationally) responsible for the spiders being in Baedal, even knowing that he has nothing to do with it. It's something he recognises from home, it might be something from his home. So he's half-ready to do something should they affect her negatively, even if he's not sure what, exactly, he intends to do.
